The landscape

Southern Cambodia is largely a plain that is cultivated extensively for rice growing and from the small hills looks fairly natural but you realize there is hardly a bit of land that hasn’t been touched.
The air quality has been bad every day save for the day we spent crossing Tenle Sap. Trash seems to be the primary culprit right now and I’m told it’s much worse in March when the fields are being burned before the first rice planting. It is a tough environment for those with asthma and other respiratory ailments especially when you combine the pollution with dusty roads.
How will the Cambodians manage this with their population growth forecast of 2%/year?
